Mallorca hosted the IAGTO Mallorca Trophy 2026 from 13 to 18 September, bringing 40 specialist golf tour operators from 17 countries across Europe and North America to the island. The five-day programme combined golf, professional meetings and experiences designed to give the participating operators direct knowledge of Mallorca as a golf destination.
The event was organised by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators, IAGTO, in collaboration with the Mallorca Golf Courses Association. It was supported by the Regional Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Government of the Balearic Islands through the Balearic Islands Tourism Strategy Agency, as well as the Consell de Mallorca, the Mallorca Responsible Tourism Foundation and the Son Servera and Sant Llorenç Tourism Consortium.
More than 600 business meetings in Mallorca
A central part of the IAGTO Mallorca Trophy was a professional workshop held at Hacienda Son Antem Golf Resort. According to IAGTO, each participating company had around 20 pre-scheduled appointments, contributing to more than 600 B2B meetings between international golf tour operators and Mallorca-based tourism suppliers.
This business element is important when assessing the event. The invited operators were not simply visiting Mallorca to play golf. They were meeting directly with local businesses involved in the golf tourism sector and experiencing the destination they may subsequently present to their customers.
IAGTO describes itself as the global trade organisation of the golf tourism industry. Its activities include bringing specialist golf travel buyers together with golf courses, resorts, hotels, destination management companies and tourism organisations. The Mallorca Trophy therefore placed local golf tourism businesses in direct contact with companies specialising in the sale of golf holidays.
Six Mallorca golf courses in the main programme
The main golf itinerary introduced the visiting operators to six different Mallorca courses. The first full day included nine holes at Son Antem West before the professional workshop at Hacienda Son Antem. An optional round at Son Antem East had also been available on the participants’ arrival day.
The following day took the group to Golf Son Gual for nine holes before lunch at INMOOD Aucanada. In the afternoon, another nine holes were played at Club de Golf Alcanada, followed by dinner at the club.
Pula Golf Resort hosted the joint tournament involving the visiting tour operators and representatives of Mallorca’s local tourism sector. The event used a shotgun start and concluded with lunch, a presentation and prize giving. The programme later continued in Son Servera with an evening event at the Iglesia Nueva.
The final golf day began at Golf Son Servera and continued at Capdepera Golf after lunch. Together with Son Antem West, Son Gual, Alcanada and Pula, these courses formed the six-course main golf programme reported by Mallorca Golf Island.
Golf was only part of the itinerary
The organisers deliberately combined golf with accommodation, gastronomy and other parts of the Mallorca visitor experience. The programme included a welcome dinner at Zoëtry Mallorca, accommodation at Hacienda Son Antem during the first part of the trip and later accommodation provided by Hipotels Hotels & Resorts and CM Hotels.
There were also meals and professional gatherings at several locations associated with the itinerary, including Son Muntaner, INMOOD Aucanada and Club de Golf Alcanada. This allowed participating operators to experience more than the golf courses alone.
That approach reflects the stated purpose of the IAGTO Mallorca Trophy: to strengthen Mallorca’s positioning as an international golf destination and to create business opportunities between visiting operators and tourism companies on the island.
What does the event mean for golfers planning a Mallorca holiday?
For golfers, the immediate significance should be viewed realistically. The event did not announce a new golf course, new airline route, new green-fee structure or guaranteed new holiday packages. Nor have the organisers published figures showing how many additional bookings will result from the meetings.
What can be established is that 40 specialist golf tour operators were given direct access to Mallorca’s golf and tourism offer, with more than 600 scheduled business meetings and several days of first-hand experience on the island. For a destination that competes in the international golf travel market, this creates direct contact between the companies selling golf travel and the local businesses providing the golf holiday experience.
The selection of courses also demonstrated different parts of Mallorca rather than concentrating the programme in one area. Son Antem provided the opening base close to Palma and the south of the island, while Son Gual and Alcanada were followed by visits further east to Pula, Son Servera and Capdepera. The programme therefore allowed operators to see several distinct golf locations during one visit.
A trade event with a clear international focus
The most relevant fact about the IAGTO Mallorca Trophy 2026 is its international reach. Forty specialist operators representing 17 countries in Europe and North America travelled to Mallorca specifically for a programme centred on golf tourism.
For Mallorca Golf Holidays, the event is a useful indication of how the island is being presented to the international golf travel trade: not as a single-course destination, but as a combination of multiple golf courses, accommodation, gastronomy and different regions of the island.
What happens commercially after the event will depend on the tour operators and local suppliers involved. At this stage, claims about future visitor numbers, new packages or increased bookings would be premature. What is already documented, however, is a substantial professional golf tourism event that connected Mallorca directly with specialist travel companies from 17 international markets.
