Project Description
Alcanada Golf Club
Considered by many to be one of the best golf courses on the island, Alcanada is regularly ranked amongst the best golf courses in Europe. Golf journalists and specialist golf magazines frequently sing the praises of this stunningly beautiful course.
Opened in 2003 Alcanada was designed by Robert Trent Jones Snr. & Jnr together, bringing their wealth of experience to create a true gem of a course. Typical Trent Jones features, like well placed green side fairway bunkers, challenging greens and difficult but fair tee shots, make Alcanada a must for all experienced golfers visiting Mallorca.
With its spectacular design, Alcanada is the only golf course in Mallorca located right by the sea. The back 9 holes slope down towards the sea, with pine, olive and oak trees framing the view of the iconic Alcanada lighthouse on its island. The mountains behind offer a dramatic backdrop.
With its spectacular design, the course also enjoys amazing views across the bay of Alcudia. The Alcanada lighthouse, just 150m from the shore, forms part of the club’s logo. Restaurante Golf Alcanada overlooks parts of the course and fantastic views of the bay from the restaurant terrace make dining here a special experience. The venue is often used for receptions and functions.
12 minute tee time intervals, greatly assist with flow of play and avoids overcrowding, as there are less players on the course at any one time.Good flight management from the starter, allows for a more relaxed experience on a course that is in great condition. However, with fewer tee times available, planning ahead is recommended in order to secure preferred times. It is almost unheard of to spend longer than 4 hours 30 minutes to complete 18 holes at Alcanada.
The Alcanada experience is delivered by an ever attentive staff dedicated to providing discerning golfers with a day to remember. They are a team of service orientated professionals second to none. Attention to detail is always in mind. For example, pre-booked buggies have the player’s name displayed on the front.
For visiting golfers wishing to play a number of courses, it should be noted that Alcanada is the only 18 hole course in this northern part of Mallorca. Being just over an hour’s drive from Palma, Alcanada is a stand alone course. There is a 9 hole course at Pollensa, but not of a caliber to be compared. However, many golfers are more than happy to make the journey to play Alcanada.
Do I Need a Buggy?
Alcanada is walkable if fit. Buggies are allowed on fairways – 90º rule, weather permitting.
