Located just 15 minutes from Palma airport, this Dieter Cabus design is one of the island’s younger courses, opening in 2006. At 6,347 metres, this par-72 championship golf course has been laid out to cope with the demands of hot and dry summer weather, yet remain in excellent condition all year around.
Set between pine, olive and carob trees in a classic Mallorcan landscape, Golf Maioris has some of the most generous fairways of all the island’s courses. With great variation, Maioris features four lakes and two island greens to give a solid challenge to all levels of golfers.
Starting with a gentle par-4, as a warm up, Golf Maioris soon starts to provide sterner challenges. However, the course has been carefully designed to offer an enjoyable experience for golfers of all levels. A particular feature are the pine trees situated in the centre of the fairway of the 2nd hole. With steep run-offs to right and left, precise approach play to the raised green is a necessity.
Hole 4 is the first of Maioris’ par-5’s and features an island green which is another signature of the course. Most golfers will be able to reach this 483 metre hole in three, although for bigger hitters the margin for error is slim. The par-3, 13th is another classic hole. Requiring a carry of 155 metres over water, hitting the green is imperative.
The spacious clubhouse and restaurant terraces afford extensive views over the course and surrounding countryside. Designed around a central courtyard, the Maioris clubhouse offers very good changing room facilities, Pro Shop, Caddymaster area, bar and restaurant.
Do I Need a Buggy?
Golf Maioris is a mainly gentle, undulating course, which can be walked if you are relatively fit. However, on the final few holes, there are some significant slopes. If you have any concerns about this, then a buggy will be advised. Buggies can be taken on the fairways, weather permitting.
