For many visitors, Mallorca is still associated primarily with summer, beaches and long Mediterranean evenings. Golfers, however, often see the island differently. Once the most intense heat of July and August begins to fade, Mallorca enters one of its most attractive periods for golf. From September through November, comfortable temperatures, a wide choice of courses and a busy golf calendar make autumn one of the best times of the year for a dedicated Mallorca golf holiday.
Autumn 2026 is a particularly good example. Golf clubs across the island are offering seasonal packages, tournament calendars are filling up and Club de Golf Alcanada will once again host the season-ending Rolex Grand Final at the end of October. For travelling golfers, the months between September and November combine serious golf with everything that makes Mallorca attractive away from the course: Mediterranean landscapes, excellent restaurants, Palma, traditional villages, wineries and a coastline that remains appealing long after the peak summer season has ended.
Comfortable temperatures for 18 holes
The most obvious advantage of autumn golf in Mallorca is the weather. According to the official Balearic tourism information, typical September temperatures reach around 27°C during the day and fall to approximately 18°C at night. October is milder, with daytime temperatures around 23°C and nights around 15°C, while November typically brings highs of around 19°C and lows near 11°C.
For golfers, this gradual cooling is generally welcome. Early tee times no longer require the same planning around summer heat, while midday and afternoon rounds become much more comfortable. September can still feel distinctly summery, particularly during the middle of the day, whereas October often offers a particularly attractive balance between warmth and comfortable playing conditions.
November brings cooler mornings and evenings, but daytime temperatures can still be very pleasant for golf. A light pullover or windproof layer is useful, particularly for early starts and exposed coastal courses.
Autumn weather also requires a little flexibility
Mallorca’s Mediterranean climate does not mean guaranteed sunshine every day. Autumn is more changeable than summer and the chance of rainfall increases, especially during October and November. Short periods of heavy rain are possible, and weather systems can occasionally affect play.
For that reason, autumn golfers should keep some flexibility in their itinerary rather than scheduling every round too tightly. A lightweight waterproof jacket belongs in the golf bag, while an extra day without a fixed tee time can be useful during longer stays.
The advantage is that Mallorca offers plenty to do if the weather temporarily interrupts a round. Palma, local markets, wineries, restaurants and the island’s historic towns provide alternatives that turn a weather delay into part of the holiday rather than a lost day.
More than 20 courses across one compact island
Mallorca has developed into one of Europe’s established golf destinations, with more than 20 courses distributed across the island. One of its greatest advantages is the variety available within relatively short driving distances.
Golfers staying around Palma and the southwest can choose from courses including Son Vida, Son Muntaner, Son Quint, T Golf Calvià, T Golf Palma and Golf de Andratx. Those travelling to the north can combine their stay with Club de Golf Alcanada, while courses such as Canyamel Golf and Capdepera Golf make the northeast another interesting base for a golf trip.
This variety makes Mallorca particularly suitable for golfers who prefer playing a different course every day rather than spending an entire holiday at a single resort. A five- or seven-night stay can easily combine several very different layouts, landscapes and levels of difficulty.
Autumn is an important golf season, not simply a cheap one
There is one important misconception worth avoiding: autumn is not necessarily the low season for golf in Mallorca. While the general tourism season becomes quieter after the peak summer months, September, October and parts of November are highly attractive to golfers precisely because the playing conditions improve.
Popular tee times can therefore be in strong demand, particularly on well-known courses and during tournament weeks. Golfers travelling in groups should book preferred courses and morning tee times in advance rather than assuming that quieter beaches automatically mean empty golf courses.
Green fees also vary considerably by course, date and time of day. Instead of looking only for the lowest price, it often makes more sense to compare packages, multi-course offers and golf-and-hotel combinations.
Seasonal golf offers can make longer stays attractive
Several Mallorca golf operators use autumn to promote packages aimed specifically at travelling golfers. For autumn 2026, T Golf is offering a seasonal package combining one 18-hole green fee at T Golf Calvià with one at T Golf Palma for €275 per person. The offer is valid from 1 September until 8 November 2026 and can be used at any time of day, subject to the conditions of the package.
Arabella Golf Resort Mallorca is also promoting a golf package for the colder months. Guests can combine accommodation at Castillo Hotel Son Vida or Sheraton Mallorca with daily golf across Son Muntaner, Son Vida and Son Quint. The current promotion is available for booking until 31 October 2026, with the relevant autumn and winter stay period beginning on 22 October.
Offers change throughout the season, so golfers should always check current conditions, availability and cancellation rules directly before booking. However, these packages demonstrate how strongly Mallorca’s golf industry is geared towards autumn and winter visitors rather than only the traditional summer tourism market.
A busy tournament calendar adds another dimension
Autumn is also one of the most active periods on Mallorca’s golf calendar. Club competitions, amateur tournaments and international events take place across the island during September and October.
Club de Golf Alcanada provides a good example in 2026, with several competitions scheduled through September and October. The highlight follows from 29 October to 1 November, when the Rolex Grand Final supported by The R&A returns to Alcanada for the sixth time.
The tournament concludes the HotelPlanner Tour season and brings the leading players from the Road to Mallorca Rankings to the island. For visiting golfers, combining a golf holiday with a professional tournament can add something very different to an autumn trip.
September, October or November: which month is best?
September is the best choice for golfers who still want a strong sense of summer. Temperatures remain warm, evenings are pleasant and the sea is still attractive after a round. Golf should ideally be scheduled earlier in the day when temperatures remain high.
October is arguably the classic month for a Mallorca golf holiday. Daytime temperatures are generally comfortable, the island remains lively without the intensity of August and the golf calendar is particularly active. It is also an excellent period for combining several courses during the same trip.
November appeals to golfers who prefer a quieter Mallorca. Temperatures are cooler and the possibility of rain increases, but the island becomes noticeably more relaxed. For golfers who are less interested in beaches and nightlife and more interested in golf, gastronomy and exploring Mallorca, November can be an excellent choice.
Where to stay for an autumn golf holiday
The right location depends largely on how many courses you want to play. Palma and the southwest are particularly convenient for golfers planning a multi-course trip because numerous courses can be reached without spending excessive time in the car. Palma also offers restaurants, shopping and cultural attractions in the evening, making it a strong choice for couples or groups where not everyone intends to play golf every day.
The north of Mallorca is attractive for golfers who want to build their stay around Alcanada and combine golf with the Bay of Alcúdia, Pollença and the northern coast. The northeast offers a more rural atmosphere and access to courses around Canyamel and Capdepera.
Mallorca is compact enough that changing regions is rarely essential. In many cases, choosing one good base and travelling to different courses each day is the simplest approach.
What to pack for autumn golf in Mallorca
Autumn golf requires slightly more preparation than a midsummer round. In September, lightweight golf clothing, sunscreen and plenty of water remain essential. By October and November, layers become more important.
A light sweater, windproof top and compact waterproof jacket cover most situations. Golf shoes with good grip are useful after overnight rain, while sunscreen should remain in the bag throughout the season. Mallorca’s autumn sun can still be strong even when temperatures feel comfortable.
For early morning rounds in November, an additional warm layer is sensible. The difference between an early tee time and the temperature around midday can be noticeable.
Golf and Mallorca beyond the fairways
One reason Mallorca works particularly well as an autumn golf destination is that the holiday does not need to revolve exclusively around golf. The official tourism organisation specifically highlights autumn as a period for discovering the island’s gastronomy, wineries, olive oil producers and sporting events.
For golf groups, this makes it easy to create a varied itinerary: golf in the morning, lunch at the clubhouse or a traditional Mallorcan restaurant, followed by Palma, a winery visit or a drive through the Tramuntana region. Couples where only one person plays golf can also combine rounds with spa stays, restaurants and sightseeing.
The result is a different Mallorca from the one many summer visitors know. Autumn is less about spending every day on the beach and more about experiencing the landscape, food and local character of the island.
Planning ahead is still important
Because autumn is such an attractive golf period, the best-known courses should not be left until the last minute. This is particularly true for groups, golfers requiring buggies and travellers who want specific morning tee times.
It is also worth checking tournament calendars before finalising an itinerary. A competition may restrict normal tee-time availability on one course, while at the same time providing an interesting event to attend.
For a multi-course holiday, booking the most important rounds first and arranging the rest of the trip around them is usually the safest approach.
Why autumn works so well for Mallorca golf
There is no single perfect month for every golfer, but autumn brings together many of Mallorca’s strongest qualities. September offers warm late-summer golf, October provides some of the most comfortable playing conditions of the year, and November delivers a quieter and more relaxed version of the island.
Add more than 20 courses, major events such as the Rolex Grand Final, seasonal golf packages, Palma’s restaurants and culture and the possibility of exploring very different parts of the island within one trip, and the appeal becomes clear.
For golfers who primarily want good playing conditions rather than peak summer heat, autumn should be near the top of the list when planning a Mallorca golf holiday. And with the 2026 autumn golf season already underway, September through November once again shows why Mallorca has become far more than a summer destination.
